Breast
Lift Information provided by Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in La Jolla
You
may be a candidate for a breast lift in La Jolla if you have excess
or sagging breast tissue due to gravity, weight loss or
breast feeding. If you are satisfied with the size of your
breasts but don’t like the appearance, this may be
the procedure for you. Women who have nipples that point
downward may also be candidates for this procedure. Some
women have lost a lot of volume and choose to have a breast
augmentation in conjunction with a breast lift. This procedure
is termed an augmentation mastopexy.
There
are several options for mastopexy or breast lift incisions,
depending on your individual circumstances, which you will
discuss with Dr. Kearney during your consultation. A concentric
mastopexy is done by making an incision around your nipple.
A standard mastopexy is done by making an incision around
the areola and then typically runs vertically from the bottom
of the areola to the crease underneath the breast and then
horizontally in the crease below this breast. This is often
referred to as an “anchor” incision. There is
a procedure in between these two which involves a “lollipop”
type scar. Your nipples and areolas will remain attached
to underlying skin and tissue during the procedure in order
to help preserve sensation and breast feeding
Dr.
Kearney performs breast lifts under general anesthesia and
you may go home the same day. Most patients are back to
work 1 week and resume normal activities within 3 weeks. Continue reading about breast lift surgery in La Jolla.
