What is Rejuvapen?
Rejuvapen is a specialized “pen” containing a disposable cartridge with nine tiny needles. The pen is moved across the treatment area and it creates hundreds of micropunctures. The micropunctures begin to heal almost immediately, but they trigger a natural healing reaction in the body, especially an increase in collagen production. Rejuvapen is especially effective on acne scarring, as it breaks up the tethering in the scar, which results in less indentation and a smoother surface layer of the skin.
Where do we use Rejuvapen?
We use Rejuvapen on the face to improve scarring or to tighten small areas of loose skin. It works on the forehead, cheeks, lower eyelids, chin, and jawline. Beyond scars, Rejuvapen works to minimize pore size, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, improve hyperpigmentation, and lessen the appearance of stretch marks.
How does a treatment go?
Our highly training RNs perform the minimally invasive Rejuvapen procedure. When you first arrive, around 45 minutes prior to your treatment, we apply a topical numbing cream to minimize any discomfort. The Rejuvapen procedure takes only around 20 minutes. The penetration of the needles can be adjusted to customize the treatment to the problem area.
Recovery and downtime
Most patients have redness that resembles a mild sunburn after their Rejuvapen session. This lasts from one to two days for most people. There may be some minor bleeding during the treatment and possible mild bruising afterwards. But the microscopic punctures begin to heal immediately thanks to the unaffected surrounding skin and fully heal with 12 hours. Your skin may feel tight and a little itchy for a day or two.
Results
Most patients feel their skin looks immediately better, but over the next 4-8 weeks it continues to improve as the body produces new collagen supplies to “heal” the wounds. We recommend 3-6 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart in order to achieve optimal results.
