How is NeoGraft hair transplantation done performed?
The first step is to shave the back of the patient’s head. This area on the back of the head is resistant to pattern balding so the hair follicles there are still viable. The area is then numbed topically. We use the NeoGraft® Automated Hair Transplantation system for both extraction and transplantation. How do I prepare for a NeoGraft procedure?
No preparation is necessary other than avoiding aspirin products for several days prior to the procedure. It makes the process easier if you have a haircut that is relatively short, but Dr. Kearney can talk with you about your individual situation during your consultation. We shave the donor areas, so short hair blends in better afterwards.
When will the hair start to grow?
Once your NeoGraft transplantation is done, the transplanted area will show some redness and may feel tender. You will be able to see the individual spots where the hair has been transplanted. Over the few weeks some of the newly transplanted hair will fall out but that doesn’t mean the follicles have failed to take. It’s simply the reaction to the trauma of the transplant. The hair follicles then then settle in and return to the anagen (growth) phase. You should start seeing new growth within a few months but it can take 6-12 months to see the full amount of hair growth.
Is hair transplantation painful?
