Everyone wants to have firmer, tighter skin. That’s the tenet of youthful skin. But declining collagen, sun damage, and slackening tissues all conspire to give us flattened cheeks and sagging across our mid and lower face.
Obviously, a facelift with Dr. Kearney could address these issues. But many patients aren’t interested in surgery, at least not at this point in their lives.
Dr. Kearney is excited to offer our patients from across the San Diego area an alternative, FaceTite™. Combining radiofrequency energy and liposuction, FaceTite™ provides many of the rejuvenation aspects of a facelift, without surgery.
What is FaceTite™?
The key to this novel, minimally invasive procedure with Dr. Kearney is the FaceTite™ cannula. FaceTite™ employs a thin cannula with an internal electrode that is inserted through a tiny incision. Attached to the cannula, but resting atop the skin, is a metal wand that features an external electrode. The radiofrequency passes from the internal electrode to the external electrode, heating the fat and surrounding tissues without damaging those tissues. The liquefied fat is then suctioned away through the cannula. The RF energy that has heated the dermis layer of the skin causes the skin to contract and tighten, firming the area.
FaceTite™ tightens the skin on your lower face, jowls, and neck. The cannula also removes liquefied fat in the jowls, minimizing the effects of a double chin. FaceTite™ primarily is used to tighten the skin. However, FaceTite™ can effectively remove fat under the chin and in the areas where laugh lines form. As you may have seen discussed in past blogs, Dr. Kearney also offers BodyTite™, which employs the same technology, but aims to remove more fat on other areas of the body.
What are the benefits of radiofrequency-assisted liposuction?
There are numerous benefits to the combination of RF energy and liposuction used in the EmbraceRF FaceTite™ system.
- Skin contraction — The heating that melts the fat also causes a “wound” response in the dermis layer of the skin. This causes the skin to contract down, and the body produces new amounts of collagen (the skin’s structural support protein) to send to the perceived “wound.” Liposuction without RF energy doesn’t provide skin contraction.
- Controlled directional energy distribution — Because the RF energy transfers from the cannula through the tissue up to the external handpiece, the direction can be precisely controlled. This maximizes the RF energy utilization, while ensuring there is little risk of thermal damage to surrounding tissues.
- Decreased downtime — Liposuction involves tissue trauma, as the cannula is moved back and forth under the skin to break up fat pockets. By using RF energy to break down and liquefy fat, the cannula with FaceTite™ gently extracts the fat. This creates far less bruising, swelling, and downtime.
Only board-certified plastic surgeons such as Dr. Kearney can use the EmbraceRF FaceTite™ system. This ensures the necessary knowledge of facial anatomy from the provider, and that means you can count on the best results.
