When you watch a Kirk Douglas movie do you look in the mirror the next morning ready to do a classic line from the movie, only to be disappointed because there’s your weak chin looking back at you.
You don’t have to put up with that definition-less chin. Let Dr. Kearney give you chin implants and give ole Kirk a run for his money!
Who’s a good candidate for chin implants?
The goal of a chin implant procedure is to improve your profile and create a more defined and attractive jawline. This will create better balance between your chin and other features of your face. Some people think of their chin as “receding.” This isn’t technically true, in the respect that it is moving backwards, but it appears that way. Chin implants can strengthen that profile, just like Spartacus!
What is involved in chin surgery?
There are several options available for the patient. Dr. Kearney can make the chin wider or lengthen it to make it appear stronger and more visible. To do this, implants are added to change the profile of the chin. These implants are made of silicone or polyethylene, and there is an incredibly diverse assortment of available shapes. For men, more than one implant is often used.
In chin augmentation surgery, Dr. Kearney makes an incision either along the line of the lower jaw under the chin or inside the patient’s mouth, depending on the size and rigidity of the implant. To make sure the implant stays in place, Dr. Kearney affixes it to the bone or the surrounding tissues, or he creates a pocket to precisely accommodate the implant.
Chin surgery with Dr. Kearney is a pretty straightforward procedure. It is done on an outpatient basis with local or general anesthesia, depending on patient preference. Patients can usually return to work just three to five days after their surgery. Most bruising and swelling is gone in a week to 10 days.
There are also temporary augmentation options using dermal fillers to build up the chin. These results, however, only last around six months to a year and then the injections need to be repeated.
